Laying Patterns
How your cobble is laid

The same stone looks dramatically different depending on the laying pattern. Discuss with your mason which pattern suits your project before ordering.

Straight Grid
All cobbles aligned in straight rows and columns. Clean, formal, geometric. Works best in contemporary and minimalist spaces.
Recommended for — courtyards, driveways, commercial plazas
Offset / Brick
Each row offset by half a cobble. Adds movement and texture, slightly more complex to lay. The most popular choice for natural stone.
Recommended for — pathways, pool surrounds, garden areas
Herringbone
Cobbles laid at 45° alternating angles. The most visually dynamic pattern — traditional, sophisticated, and structurally strong underfoot.
Recommended for — heritage projects, feature entrances, formal gardens

Our cobblestones carry the finish exactly as they emerge from the phyllite seam — split along the natural cleavage plane, retaining the stone's authentic texture, micro-layering, and characteristic grey-to-charcoal colouration.
